There are tons and tons of IPhone 7 reviews that you can find on the web. Going from the deepest technical details to the dumbest implementation and crazy f*** up my iPhone videos :D
So why do i take the courage to write one more review?
Well.....i personally feel that i need a review for people that have needs like me. This review can also be very easily applicable for the upcoming iPhone for next couple of years....
I am basically a lazy person, so i will try to keep this one short & sweet :)
So, let me list down my needs in a smartphone:
- Stability. Reliability. Good quality.
- Good battery life.
- Good camera if not the best.
- Good for music.
- Wont slow down on software upgrades.
- All necessary apps available.
- Syncs well with other gadgets.
- Not too costly.
- A smartphone which has some great Oomph factor !!!
As you can see, the iPhone certainly meets most of my requirements. I made it less costly by getting it in a BOGO offer on a decent AT&T group plan :)
And best of all it has the best Oomph factor (Geeks still don't expect to score with a girl) !!!
The iPhone is certainly not good for syncing with other smartphones and windows devices. I miss my easy days of copy paste using an Android device. And actually i have even stopped trying to sync this with other devices.
APP store has great collections of Aps which are very stable. I no longer try out each and every famous apps....the bug in me has died!
Software updates are good and timely. I just update and don't even know whats new ??? As far as my phone is working i am not bothered.
The camera is quiet good. Daylight shots are exceptional for a smartphone. Night shots suck! But this can never replace my DSLR (yes i have one...but rarely use it)...where's the Bokeh?
Music playback quality is awesome! My advice.. get a better headphones and use the adapters. I have a Sennheiser one and they sound way better than the apple provided ones. The wireless Apple "Airpods" look like ear rings and not worth 150$. Trust me i really don't miss the headphone jack and carry the adapter everywhere with me.
All in all i am a pretty much light user, yet i still need to charge the phone everyday. And with the provided charger, it takes 2 hrs to charge from 20% to 100%. Seems very long, but i haven't tried any fast chargers yet.
The phone has great built quality, but i do use it with a case. Without case it seems slippery. I have dropped my phone a couple of times but the case saved it (no hard drops).
And till date my phone has never restarted or hung on me...kudos to Apple :)
I got the 128GB version, and have 77GB still free. No mp3 on my device only Camera shots/videos and WhatsApp photos/videos.
So, so whats my final verdict.....
If you can afford the iPhone, then certainly buy it. But its not a must have device. I was actually thinking of getting the OnePlus 5T if it wasn't for the BOGO offer.
If your friends / family circle has it, then definitely makes more sense to go the apple way.
Compared to Android, yeah you will certainly miss many features but personally apart from the file sharing in Android i don't miss anything else. IPhone X has killed the fingerprint sensor, so not sure how it's like moving to the face recognition thing.
